The Cycle
The Cycle, 2025
Original Art by Blaise Birt
50cm x 50cm
Acrylic on Canvas
Ready to hang
This piece is an adaptation of Gustave Courbet’s 1866 painting, L’Origine du monde (The origin of the world). Where Courbet’s work can be seen as a celebration of the feminine, the mother, the creator - my interpretation flips that ideal on it’s head, focusing instead on the ‘bad mother’ archetype, exploring the ways unhealed trauma is passed down through toxic generational cycles.
